A Level English Literature
Starting A-Level English Literature in September 2020?
Looking for something to do?
Here are some things you can do during lockdown/summer to help keep your mind active and help prepare you for your course:
A-Level English Literature:
- Read some plays by Tennessee Williams:
- Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (you can also watch it online here).
- The Glass Menagerie (you can also watch the play online here).
- Watch some productions using Digital Theatre – it is free to log in to and has lots of great resources including many on A Streetcar Named Desire and Othello. They also have a section called ‘Theory and Criticism’ which will help you too!
- National Theatre are broadcasting productions live every Thursday during the quarantine. Use this link to watch some of these: National Theatre YouTube Channel.
- Audible have made some stories free for students! Their ‘Literary Classics’ section are particularly relevant for A Level English Literature learners and can be accessed by following the link on the VLE or clicking here: Audible.
Please download these materials from the English and Media Centre if you would like a jump start on A Level English Literature.
We look forward to seeing you in September, please contact the programme leader Rhian.Jacob-Barclay@newcollege.ac.uk if you have any questions.
