A Level English Language
Starting A-Level English Language in September 2020?
Looking for something to do?
Here are some things you can do during lockdown/summer to help keep your mind active and help prepare you for your course:
A-Level English Language:
- If you’d like to complete some wider reading then please go to David Crystal’s website where you can find a list of his books and articles (some of which are downloadable).
- There are a wealth of helpful videos on YouTube that you can access if you’d like
- Here are some suggestions to get you started: How to get an A* in English Language, Child Language Development: Key Theorists, Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development.
- On Ted.Com, there are a series of online lectures about Language Change. Follow this link to access them: How Language Changes over Time.
Read! Read widely to develop your language discourses/analysis and journalistic writing skills. You should read articles from a range of sources such as blogs, newspaper websites and discussion forums.
Please download these materials from the English and Media Centre if you would like a jump start on A Level English Language.
We look forward to seeing you in September, please contact the programme leader Rhian.Jacob-Barclay@newcollege.ac.uk if you have any questions.
