A Level Economics
Do you want to know why our government makes certain decisions? Do you enjoy the challenge of debating both sides of an argument? Economics helps to explain a wide variety of real-world phenomena such as economic growth and commodity prices and is a highly valued and respected A level. You should have an enquiring mind, be interested in the effect of a falling value of the pound and how decisions taken by government affect choices which consumers make, for example taxing sugary drinks. There are a lot of new terms and theory to learn as well as diagrams and you will study economics on a macro as well as a micro level. Economics is a method or tool for analysing decisions. You should be prepared to study independently, there is much to cover so you have to read and learn between lessons, showing genuine evaluation requires deep understanding.
At New College we have two A level Economics courses: EDEXCEL Economics (comprises of both Business and Economics) and AQA Economics
